One Of Our Submarines
Main Series #1000. Penguin 1st Edition, published 1954.
Edward Young was one of the first non-full time, professional Royal Navy sailors to command a submarine in World War Two Submarines are thrilling beasts, and Young tells of four years' adventures in them in a good stout book with excitement on every page. He writes beautifully, economically and with humour, and in the actions he commands he manages to put the reader at the voice-pipe and the periscope so that sometimes the tension is so great that one has to put the book down.
Condition grading: Good Minus. Pen monogram to top of foxed front cover. Crease to bottom right corner of front cover. Some wear to spine. Binding tight. The photographs form part of the description.
