Yes, I am always interested in buying books! If you are looking to downsize your collection, are clearing a relative’s estate, or are selling for any other reason, please do get in touch with me at thepenguinchap@gmail.com.
In your email, please could you include details of the collection and if possible, photos of the books you have (spine shots are fine so long as titles are legible).
What books do I buy?
I am chiefly interested in 1st editions in good, saleable condition from these series:
Penguin Main Series (1935-1970), King Penguin Books, Puffin Books, Puffin Posts, Peacock Books, Albatross Books
NB. I am not buying any Pelican Books or Penguin Specials at present.
Whilst I cannot guarantee that I will be interested in every book I’m offered - there has to be sufficient appeal in your collection for my customers - I will offer a fair price for any I am interested in (one that factors in market value, my overheads and the courier charge for collections).
How does payment and collection work?
Once a total price is agreed upon, I can arrange payment by bank transfer or Paypal, whichever you prefer.
If you are happy to post the books to me, I will ask you to pack them securely and via a tracked and insured service which I will pay for.
If you are not able to post them, I can arrange for Royal Mail to collect them from you on a convenient date. In readiness for collection, I will ask you to pack the books securely in a suitable box, and to print and affix a postage label that I will email to you.
