This is the story of an expedition to Greenland, supported by the Royal Geographical Society, to explore the viability of travelling the shortest route by air between England and Canada. The fourteen explorers sailed from London on 6th July 1930, together with their crew of ten, in their ship, the ‘Quest’. The account of this expedition covers a wide range of topics from the history of man exploration of the polar regions to methods for survival; rations, cooking, and the avoidance of scurvy; medical first aid; how to travel efficiently by sledge; etc.
