The first in narrative order in the 'Strangers and Brothers' series, telling the story of Lewis Eliot's early life. As a child he is faced with his father's bankruptcy. As a young man, he finds his career at the Bar hindered by a neurotic wife. Separation from her is impossible however.

Condition grading: Very Good. Pen name and pencil price to title page. Creasing and some damage to top of spine. Usual page tanning/foxing for age. Binding tight. The photographs form part of the description.
