The Rod of Anger

£4.00

Penguin 1st Edition, published 1955.

An early Cold War novel in which a former WW2 British agent, John Granger, revisits the scenes, one pressumes in Prague, of his former secret service activities. What starts as Granger's innocent intent to visit old haunts and old friends while he attends an international peace conference, is soon complicated by the machinery of the post-war communist police state. The ambitious, ruthless, Moscow-trained Brud and his police units are after Granger's friend, Anton, who is on the run, and Granger's wartime comrades, Kravchek, Braselli and Anna as well as Anton's family, find themselves in serious danger, as does Granger himself.

Condition grading: Good Minus. Some creasing to top right front cover corner. Pen numbers to top of rear cover Light crease down left side of front cover. Light wear to spine. Light wear to edges on both covers. Binding tight. The photographs form part of the description.
