The Rod of Anger
Penguin 1st Edition, published 1955.
Former WW2 agent John Granger travels to a behind-the-Iron-Curtain country ostensibly for a peace conference, intending to catch up with old wartime acquaintances. What starts as Granger's innocent intent is soon complicated by the machinery of the post-war communist police state. The ambitious, ruthless, Moscow-trained Brud and his police units are after Granger's friend, Anton, who is on the run, and Granger's wartime comrades, Kravchek, Braselli and Anna as well as Anton's family, find themselves in serious danger, as does Granger himself.
Condition grading: Good. Some wear spots to tanned spine. Light tanning to left hand edge of front cover. Binding tight. The photographs form part of the description.
