A collection of 23 short stories, including such classics as In a Season of Calm Weather, The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit, Fever Dream, and The Day It Rained Forever. The latter is a poetic short story about three old men in a dry desert hotel waiting for annual January rains. When a stranded female musician plays her harp, the music acts like spiritual rain, reviving their dry lives even though no actual water falls.
